Question:
Hey guys....... Is there some limit on the number/size of pictures that can be posted on the Forum? I'd like to put a bunch of Stellafane 09 pic's somewhere, but except for perhaps one or two, Kopernik.org is not the place. I suppose I need to sign up for one of those picture websites like Flickr....... any suggestions?
Also...... how do we get rid of out-dated content on the Forum? Not that I think there is any right now........
Answer:
Both Picasa (a google product) and flickr are good tools for online photo sharing.
Picasa - http://picasaweb.google.com/
flickr - http://www.flickr.com/
We pretty much have lots of space to allocate to the kopastro.org web site (I think like 100GB or something like that) So I wouldn't get too worried.
As far as outdated content - typically forums are littered with it, especially forums that have been around a long time. It is kind of the nature of forums, and they are historical notes of the activity of the club. Therefore, I was not planning on removing it. This would be a similar thing as with cloudy nights. They have stuff on there from their beginning. WHENEVER looking at data contained in a forum you must consider two things....the age of the data and the source of the data. For example if it says there is a KAS meeting on 8/22 but it was from 2006, then you should be able to put those pieces of data together to realize that is likely not tomorrow.
If the club wants to sign someone up to act as librarian, I am ok with that. However, I probably would not sign up for that job.
